Nice tips but i dint agree with the statement that link units¬† are effective for all, they work good for site with specialized topics, but for general topics they don't work

Yeah, I saw those new link units, and you’re right, they do look deceptive, but they use up much less real-estate than the regular units. I don’t plan to use them, but I imagine they are pretty effective. I wonder if advertisers will really see results from them. They’ll find out from the power of Analytics.

Great advice, Kadavy. I agree that you want the Google Searchers rather than the Digg/Slashdot thrill seekers. But, having experienced the bandwidth surges from those sites first hand, I was able to make money off the deal despite paying for the additional bandwidth. Surprisingly, the clickthrough rate was still average (around 1%) during the Digg traffic. I would have thought that the Digg crowd would be trained not to click on ads. One other comment: Google has a new ad format that just looks like text links. It is just a bar with 4 different two-word ads. It seems pretty deceptive because they could be easily mistaken for navigation links. I use them here: http://www.foundphotography.com/PhotoThoughts/archives/2005/11/iskra_camera_re.html Good or bad?
