Still relevant over a year after it was written and post Panda. I’d also suggest taking a look at the competing pages for a keyword to see how much and what type of content they have on the page, then match or better them!

I noted that there were a few mentions about ranking better with links from trusted sites pointing to the website in questions. Let me say that I think a blank page with decent titles and about 200 words of content can get ranked with the right links pointing to it. Anyone wanted search engine traffic must spend a real amount of time creating links, or paying a reputable company to do the linking for them.

Learning SEO is somewhat confusing. Some say do this while others say don’t do that. But I am still in the process of learning and I have to say this helped me more into understanding what SEO is.

The basics seem to go a lot further than they used to. I’m really enjoying Google’s faster indexing this past few months, update a page with the basics, do a little social media link building, and I’ve seen good rankings in a matter of hours.
